Natural Red Celtic Tiles North Yorkshire
A substantial farmhouse in North Yorkshire has been carefully re-roofed using William Blyth’s Natural Red Handmade Celtic Tiles, helping preserve the traditional character of the property and its rural setting.
The extensive roofing project was completed by JLR Roofing and Property Maintenance, who stripped the existing roof coverings before installing new felt and battens ready for the replacement handmade clay roof tiles.
William Blyth’s Natural Red Celtic Tiles were selected for their close visual match to the original tiles used across the property and neighbouring roofs. With their distinctive flat pan, subtle roll and naturally varied appearance, the Celtic Tiles provide the traditional character required to sit comfortably within the surrounding roofscape.
An important part of this character comes from the natural colour variation found across the tiles. Traditional coal-firing methods create subtle variations in tone from warm oranges through to deeper natural reds, ensuring the finished roof has depth and individuality rather than a uniform appearance.
Over the coming 12–18 months, the Natural Red tiles will begin to weather and develop a more mature appearance, allowing the new roof to blend increasingly sympathetically with the farmhouse, its outbuildings and the surrounding properties.
